May 20, 2025 — Ethereum (ETH) is back in the spotlight as institutional traders place bold bets on ether hitting $6,000 by December 26. After an 80% price rally since April, large players are now deploying advanced options strategies in anticipation of more upside.
Bullish Options Strategy Targets $6,000 ETH
According to data from Paradigm and Deribit, over 30,000 ETH options contracts were executed last week through a bull call spread — buying the $3,500 call and selling the $6,000 call, both expiring Dec. 26.
The total cost of these 10 separate trades was around $7 million.
This strategy limits downside risk while allowing potential profit if ETH climbs between $3,500 and $6,000. At current levels near $2,510, that’s a 138% upside target.
If ether reaches or surpasses $6,000 by expiry, the spread delivers maximum gain. However, returns are capped above $6,000 due to the short call position.
Institutional Confidence Fuels Momentum
Analysts are interpreting these trades as a strong bullish signal from institutions. The massive trade volume reflects rising confidence in Ethereum’s growth, especially following talks of a potential spot ETH ETF with staking rewards—a development that could ignite institutional demand further.
“There’s no reason to be calling tops right now,” said Greg Magadini, a noted options analyst. “Ethereum still has plenty of room to catch up, and these upside trades reflect smart positioning.”
ETH Price Recap and Outlook
Ether has risen sharply from its April lows of $1,390 to today’s $2,510, a jump of more than 80% in under two months. Market sentiment has shifted in favor of risk assets, and ETH is benefiting from renewed optimism across the crypto space.
If momentum continues, and the ETF narrative gains traction, Ethereum could follow Bitcoin’s lead into a fresh price discovery zone before year-end.
