Metaverse Platform Sandbox has deployed a new Trivia game template as part of the Game Maker 0.11 update, allowing creators to design interactive quiz-style games within the platform’s virtual environment.

Rather than using traditional menu-based interfaces, the template relies on player movement and timing responses within 3D space. The player must physically move an avatar in the game to stand on a tile representing the selected answer. Incorrect answers are eliminated and the quiz is turned into a survival-based task.

The template is fully editable, allowing users to enter their own questions and adjust the format to suit different types of gameplay.

What’s new about Sandbox?

The Trivia Game Template is a major addition to the Game Maker 0.11 release, allowing users to create games where players can navigate to tiles around the world to answer multiple choice questions. When the timer is gone, tiles with incorrect answers will collapse, and players standing on them will be removed from the game.

Creators can customize questions, tile layouts, and round counts. The system uses sandbox’s existing logic and interaction tools and does not require external programming. The full guide is available on the platform’s GitBook, with additional tutorials being shared via live streaming sessions.

This template is available free of charge from the game maker software.

Why is this important?

The introduction of the Trivia format expands the types of games that can be built within the sandbox. This has so far focused primarily on exploration, platform and combat-based gameplay. The new template introduces knowledge-based challenges with time pressure and physical positioning, providing different types of player engagement.

The move could appeal to a wider range of creators, including educators, event organizers and those looking to create social or competitive experiences based on quizzes. Sandbox has not announced any official trivia competitions, but the template allows users to build such formats individually.

This latest update reflects Sandbox’s ongoing investment in expanding its user-based creative tools and promoting the various game types within the platform.
